PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
2013-Present Goragovo Energy Engineering Corporation, Hollywood, FL, USA
President and Founder
GEEC is a small consulting firm, thru which I develop consulting and training projects in the areas of oil and gas exploration and production, as well as in the area of alternative energy.
2008-Present PetroSkills, Tulsa, OK, USA
Instructor
The PetroSkills Alliance is a training organization for the 30 member companies (including supermajors, and large service companies) representing more than 40% of the world’s oil production. The PetroSkills Alliance provides high quality, competency-based training that is critically important for all oil and gas companies, but not unique to any particular company – allowing Alliance members to more strategically leverage their investments in training, competency development and competency assurance.
Through my engagement with PetroSkills, I have taught numerous classes in fundamentals of petroleum, reservoir, and production engineering as well as drilling, completion and workover operations. The advanced level classes that I have instructed include oil and gas reserves evaluation, well test design and analysis and gas reservoir management.
2011-Present Geo-Alliance, Kiev, UkraineDirector
2013-Present, COO 2011-2012
Geo-Alliance is an independent oil and gas producer with 685 Bcf of 2P gas reserves, 37 MM bbl of oil and condensate reserves, and 28000 net acres in principal petroleum-bearing provinces in Ukraine. In my current Director role I serve on the technical committee of the Board of Directors.
2009-2014 Service Logistics Company, Moscow, Russia
Non-Executive Chairman of the Board of Directors
Service Logistics Company provides logistics, procurement and oilfield transportation services for oil and gas producers in the Russian Federation.
2009-2014 NRK-Technology, Ltd., Moscow, RussiaDirector
N RK-Technology provides consulting and engineering services in the areas of reserves evaluation, field development planning, oil and gas properties evaluation, petroleum engineering and geosciences for clients from Russia, Ukraine and other former Soviet Union countries. The scope of provided services also includes:
•Evaluation of potential E&P projects, new acquisitions and investment options;
•Development of marginally-commercial reserves by optimizing application of advances in drilling, completion and stimulation technologies.
2006-2008 Society of Petroleum Engineers, Richardson, TX, USA Director
SPE is a worldwide technical society that joins over 110000 members in 141 countries. SPE’s mission is to collect, disseminate, and exchange technical knowledge concerning the exploration, development and production of oil and gas resources, and related technologies for the public benefit; and to provide opportunities for professionals to enhance their technical and professional competence.
I served on the board committee on education and professional activities that is overseeing reserves related issues. One of the important accomplishments during my tenure was development and board approval of the new PRMS system for reserves and resources evaluation that is the de-facto industry technical standard and the foundation for the current SEC reserves rules.
Sep 2001-May 2006 SIBNEFT Chief Engineer
As Chief Engineer of the 3rd largest oil producer in Russia, I managed research and engineering service of Sibneft. Principal areas of responsibilities were as follows:
•Optimal reservoir management based on the innovative principles and using modern technology: 3D seismic, modern logging, horizontal drilling and massive hydraulic fracturing
•Reserves booking and audit
•Engineering and economic evaluation of new acquisitions and investment options
•Development of the principles and operational management of exploration projects
•Optimal application of technology to minimize finding costs
•Development of non-commercial reserves by optimal application of stimulation, drilling and completion technology (moving to the bottom of the resource triangle)
•Development and introduction of standards of reservoir and well data acquisition and evaluation
•Engineering solutions for co-produced gas
•Operations management, planning and budgeting of engineering and research projects
•Training and development of engineering staff. Increase of the technological rating of the company by means of engineering publications and presentations at industry conferences
Jan 2000-Aug 2001 Schlumberger IPM, Sibneft-Schlumberger Alliance, Noyabrsk, Western Siberia, Russia
Senior Reservoir Engineer
I was fortunate to be one of the team that started this new Alliance in Western Siberia. I envisioned and implemented the joint Sibneft-Schlumberger engineering teams that would later become the master class for Sibneft engineers. During the startup period of the Alliance, I performed tasks ranging from engineering analysis to data acquisition and business development.
As the project developed, I managed a multidisciplinary team of Sibneft and Schlumberger specialists. The team conducted conceptual and detailed engineering analysis and operational support of development of new fields using horizontal drilling. The team also designed horizontal sidetracks to target by-passed reserves. During that period in time Schlumberger has designed, and jointly with Sibneft, drilled 12 horizontal wells. I have also provided engineering support for design and execution of unique fracturing jobs performed by Schlumberger.
Jan 1997-Dec 1999 Schlumberger Holditch-Reservoir Technologies (S.A. Holditch & Associates, Inc.)
Senior Petroleum Engineer, Petroleum Engineer
•I worked in the reservoir studies group. Principal responsibilities included integrating geologic and reservoir data for the best reservoir description as well as building and history matching reservoir simulation models. The scope of work included a vast variety of reservoirs (sandstones, naturally fractured carbonates, fractured shales, coalbed methane) and fluid types (gas, black and volatile oil and gas condensate)
•Managed the project on Yarainerskoe field study and evaluation of different completion options. Developed different business opportunities in Russia, some of which became very successful
•Managed the project on reservoir description and production evaluation of a major gas field in China (Changnan); the project entailed evaluation of core, log and well test data and comparison of the development scenarios using vertical fractured wells and horizontal wells
•Analyzed the performance improvements and stimulation jobs conducted on vertical and horizontal wells on North Shafter oil field, California, Hotton Field, North Sea and HayatYasser Area Western Desert, Egypt
